There are all sorts of reasons why your PC might not be working as well as you'd like.  Sometimes, it's just a matter of giving it a bit of a "spring clean" - an hour, perhaps two could bring it back to life. Sometimes, more significant "surgery" is needed - refresh the operating system, perhaps, or replace a slow disk. 

Of course, it could be more serious - some of those "Potentially Unwanted Programmes" may be doing more than slowing your machine down or throwing up lots of adverts; it may be sharing some of your precious and confidential information with others.
